Conference Bursaries
For many years we have been supporting the TRAC conference. We provide a small annual grant for them to award bursaries. This helps students based in British universities to attend the conference. Students have told us they find them very useful. Comments from those we aided in the 2015 include such sentiments as
"it gave me the chance of meeting colleagues from the same field and with the same interests"
"I was not only able to attend TRAC, but presented my first conference paper there,.. . it was a wonderful experience. I was also able to attend a number of papers by scholars who work in the same field as I, which was immensely useful."
As people obviously find these small grants useful, we have decided to extend the scheme. If you are organising an archaeology conference where you are trying to raise money for bursaries for students, you are welcome to contact us and we will consider your request. As with TRAC, we stipulate that the recipients must be based in British universities. We are most likely to make grants to conferences that address our own research interests - but those are fairly wide. Please note we do not make direct grants to individuals, so only applications from conference organisers who will administer the bursaries will be considered.
